It consists of two wires, made from two dissimilar metals, that are welded together at one end. This creates a junction where the temperature is measured. There are many types of thermocouples, each with its own unique characteristics in terms of temperature range, durability, vibration resistance, chemical resistance and application compatibility. They provide a fast thermal response, are unaffected by vibration, are self-powered and can withstand temperatures ranging from -270°C to 2100°C, making them extremely versatile and ideal choices for use in harsh environmental conditions. An on-board, preprogrammed math engine enables these ICs to accurately measure temperature through real-time non-linearity thermocouple corrections up to a ninth order equation.
